بدء دمج حاضن Litening 5 على التايفون
قامت شركة Airbus D&S بتركيب حاضن التهديف والملاحة المتقدم Litening 5 على واحدة من طائرات التايفون الخاصة بها والتي سوف تقدم خياراً للزبائن المستقبلين
وحاضن Litening 5 الان قد تم تركيبه على التايفون ، وسوف تتبع بعملية تقييم تشغيلي ، وسوف يصبح عملياتي بالكامل بحلول نهاية العام القادم 2016 ، وقد تم شراء هذا الحاضن بالفعل من القوى الجوية الاوروبية
الاصدار الجديد لديه مستشعرات CCD ملونة اكبر حجماً والتي من شأنها ان تسمح للنظام بالكشف عن الاهداف من مسافات ابعد ، وكما يجري الان تطوير مستشعرات العاملة بالاشعة تحت الحمراء للنظام كجزء من عملية تطوير النموذج الجديد
وهذه التطويرات لا تعني ان الحاضن الجديد انه حاضن تهديف فحسب ، بل هو ايضاً للمراقبة والاستطلاع والاستخبارات ولعملية اكتساب الاهداف
كما انه لم يتغير شكل وحجم الاصدار الجديد عن الاصدار السابق وهو Litening 3 العامل حالياً على التايفون ، مما يجعله من السهل نشره على العديد من الطائرات والتي هي فعلياً تعمل على 25 نوعاً مختلفاً من الطائرات
Litening 5 integration to keep Eurofighter on target
Airbus Defence & Space is installing the Rafael Litening 5 targeting pod on one of its Eurofighter combat aircraft, and will offer the payload option to future clients.
Guy Oren, director of Rafael's electro-optical systems unit, says the Israeli-developed pod is now being installed. "That will be followed by an operational evaluation," he adds.
The Litening 5 will become fully operational at the end of 2016 and Oren reveals that the system has been already purchased by a European air force.
The new version has a large aperture colour CCD sensor that will enable the system to detect targets at "very long ranges", Rafael says. The Litening's infrared sensor is also being upgraded as part of the new model's development.
Oren says the enhancements mean that the new version is not only a targeting pod, but an intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance system.
Rafael has not changed the pod's dimensions and form, making it easy to deploy on different types of aircraft. "The system is now carried on 25 different aircraft types," Oren notes.
Meanwhile, the miniaturisation of some of the components used in the pod has left two empty spaces, which Oren says will allow customers to incorporate dedicated, and in many cases classified, features.

Eurofighter operator trials Reccelite XR pod
Rafael’s Reccelite XR reconnaissance system has recently been demonstrated on a Eurofighter combat aircraft operated by a European air force.
Interest in the latest version of the system – a derivative of Rafael’s Litening navigation and targeting pod – has increased due to the ongoing coalition campaign against Islamic State militants in the Middle East, the company says.
The gimbal-mounted Reccelite XR’s sensors – which can maintain coverage of an area of interest regardless of aircraft manoeuvres – can be controlled from the ground, Rafael says.
"This adds flexibility in many combat missions and can be essential for successful mission completion," says Guy Oren, director of the company's electro-optical systems unit.
