This is why we need a comprehensive approach to foreign policy, employing the broad spectrum of defence tools at our very disposal. A combination of our civilian and military missions with diplomacy and dialogue, as well as development policy to address the symptoms and causes of conflict at the global level, not to forget for peace and for guarding the national boundaries, Defence plays a vital role. With threats and terror getting smarter than the latest defence technology and warfare, it is time for the nations’ defence to upgrade their force and technology and to outsmart and empower.
