Government-to-government negotiations between Peru and Russia for the acquisition of 24 MI-171 helicopters for Peru have now completed. The armed forces of Peru will use the helicopters to pursue counter-narcotics and anti-terrorism operations in the Valley of the Rivers Apurimac, Ene and Mantaro (VRAEM).

A recently signed agreement includes;

resumption of series production of the modernized version of the AN−124−100 Ruslan transport – AN−124−200 for defense industry complexes of Russia and Ukraine.

Interfax stated;

“The total production volume for An-124 [planes is] 80 planes,” he said, opening a cabinet meeting in Kyiv on Wednesday.
The premier added that the total revenues from the sale of the said transport aircraft is estimated at $12.89 billion.

A quick calculation says $174 million each or just over 125 million of the Queens pound notes.
The agreement also provides for the resumption of the Ivchenko Progress D-18 engine.
The D-18 is a large turbofan engine with a maximum thrust of about 229.77 kN, or put another way, in the middle of the Rolls Royce Trent family of engines. It would be interesting to see how the AN-124 would perform with and handle the more powerful 282 kN Trent 772B-60 engines on the RAF Voyager.

On a serious note, we have yet to see a significant Russian/European defence equipment collaboration, as much as I like the idea of developing a Western Ruslan that forms part of a European or NATO (the European parts) strategic lift pool I can’t see it happening any time soon

الجيش الروسى يزود الطائرات بجهاز لكشف الأهداف فى الليل والنهار

قررت وزارة الدفاع الروسية تجهيز مقاتلات الجيش بجهاز تصويب جديد، يستطيع أن يكتشف الأهداف المطلوب مهاجمتها فى الليل والنهار والظروف الجوية الرديئة.

ونقلت وكالة أنباء نوفوستى الروسية عن مصدر مطلع بالوزارة قوله، اليوم الجمعة، إن مصنع "أو.أو.أم.زى" الذى يقع فى مدينة يكاتيرينبورج وسط روسيا، الذى يقوم على إنتاج الجهاز الجديد يجرى الإعلان عمليات الاختبار الخاصة به، ثم يجب أن تبدأ القوات الجوية الروسية باختباره وتجريبه.

ويستطيع جهاز التنشين الجديد الذى يحتوى على جهاز الرؤية الليلية ومعين المدى الليزرى، أن يكتشف الأهداف المطلوب مهاجمتها فى الليل والنهار وفى الظروف الجوية الرديئة ولا يبقى أمام الطيار غير أن يختار الهدف ويهاجمه ويقصفه بالقنابل والصواريخ، وكأنه يتعامل مع بندقية القنص.

وتحمل الطائرة جهاز التنشين تحت جسمها أو تحت جناحها ويظهر كل ما يراه ويرصده الجهاز على الشاشة فى كابينة قيادة الطائرة، حيث يحدد الهدف المطلوب تدميره بدقة عالية تصل إلى بضعة سنتيمترات، وبذلك تغدو الطائرة التى يركَّب عليها جهاز التنشين الجديد طائرة عصرية وكأنها جددت شبابها.

وتوقع المصدر أن تصدر روسيا البدعة الجديدة إلى الدول الأخرى أيضًا التى تملك الطائرات الروسية، وأن هذه الآلية تتيح تحديث الطائرة بأقل التكلفة.

أعلنت السلطات الكورية الجنوبية أن الجيش الكورى الجنوبى سيبدأ قريبا فى تطوير نظام الطائرة القتالية الكورية التى تسمى "كيه أف- اكس" للانتهاء من تصنيعها بحلول عام 2023. ونقلت وكالة أنباء (يونهاب) الكورية الجنوبية عن مسئول فى الجيش الكورى الجنوبى قوله "إن الجيش يباشر فى هذا العام مشروع "بوراميه" الذى يهدف إلى تصنيع 120 طائرة قتالية كورية، ومن المتوقع الانتهاء من تصنيعها فى عام 2023، وتشغيلها خلال 7 أو 8 سنوات من التصنيع.

وأشارت الوكالة إلى أن الميزانية الدفاعية خصصت لهذا العام 20 مليار وون لتطوير الطائرة القتالية الكورية، كما وضعت لجنة تنفيذ المشروعات الدفاعية فى أبريل عام 2010 الخطة الأساسية لتنفيذ مشروع "بوراميه" الذى يشمل تصنيع الطائرة القتالية على المستوى المتوسط وجرت عملية التنمية والاستكشاف بواسطة وكالة الدفاع للتنمية فى الفترة من يونيو عام 2011 إلى نهاية عام 2012.

وتم تحديد معظم القدرات التشغيلية المطلوبة للطائرة القتالية الكورية فى اجتماع هيئة الأركان المشتركة فى نوفمبر الماضى، ولكن لم يتم تحديد عدد المحركات فى الطائرة.
ومن المتوقع أن تطبق وزارة الدفاع وهيئة الأركان المشتركة ووكالة المشتريات للدفاع نظام المحرك الواحد أو المحركين على الطائرة القتالية الكورية الجنوبية قريبا وتقدم الخطة الأساسية لتطوير نظام "كيه أف - اكس" فى اجتماع لجنة تنفيذ المشروعات الدفاعية المقرر عقده فى شهر فبراير المقبل.

وقال مسئول فى الجيش إن تطبيق نظام المحركين يتطلب تكلفة أكثر فى التطوير ويؤجل نشر الطائرة المقاتلة ولكن يساهم ذلك فى تطوير طائرة قتالية ذات قوة دفع أكبر.

روسيا تنتج فى 2019 قاذفات متطورة لسلاحها الجوى

صرح الجنرال أناتولى جيخاريف، قائد الطيران البعيد المدى بسلاح الجو الروسى، بأن قاذفة مستقبل سلاح الجو الروسى التى هى البديل المنتظر عن الطائرات البعيدة المدى الاستراتيجية الحالية ستظهر للنور بحلول عام 2019.

وأوردت وكالة أنباء "نوفوستى" الروسية أن روسيا تحدث طائراتها الاستراتيجية المخصصة لحمل وإطلاق صواريخ مزودة برءوس نووية أو قنابل نووية "تو-160، تو-22، تو-95أم أس". وتتضمن عملية التحديث تبديل غالبية معدات الطائرات لكى تظل فى الخدمة لسنوات طوال أخرى.

وقال جيخاريف إن تحديث طائرات "تو-95أم أس"، مثلا، يتيح لها أن تظل فى الخدمة حتى عام 2040، وسيتم تحديث الطائرات الصهريج "إيل-78" أيضًا، وهى طائرات تزود الطائرات الاستراتيجية البعيدة المدى منها بالوقود فى الجو، ويُنتظر أن تظهر طائرة صهريج جديدة من إنتاج روسيا فى عام 2018.. أما البديل عن طائرات "تو-160" و"تو-22" و"تو-95أم أس" فيُنتظر مجيئه فى عام 2025.

وأضاف الجنرال الروسى أن العمل فى صنع قاذفة المستقبل بدأ منذ أكثر من عام، وقد تم إنجاز تصميمها، وستظهر نماذج تجريبية أولى منها فى عام 2019.. مشيرًا إلى أنه من المتوقع أن تدخل هذه الطائرة الخدمة فى عام 2025.

وستختلف الطائرة المنتظرة كل الاختلاف عن طائرات "تو-160" و"تو-22" و"تو-95أم أس"، وتحمل أسلحة مختلفة.

On Jan. 21, 2011, the most well known three aircraft centers of the world, Northrop Grumman Corporation, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency(DARPA) and NASA, Dryden Flight Research Center, demonstrated autonomous aerial refueling between two unmanned flights, on a very high altitude aircraft platforms. This kind of operation never before performed in the history of defence aviation.
Northrop Grumman’s Proteus test aircraft (Proteus is a tandem-wing high-endurance aircraft designed by Burt Rutan to investigate the use of aircraft as high altitude telecommunications relays), and a NASA Global Hawk (Global Hawk [known as Tier II+ during development] is an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) used by the United States Air Force and Navy as a surveillance aircraft.) have set a new industry record by flying as close as 40 feet apart at an altitude of 45,000 feet.(NB:The Proteus is actually a multi-mission vehicle, able to carry various payloads on a ventral pylon. An extremely efficient design,the Proteus can orbit a point at over 65,000 feet (19,800 m) for more than 18 hours. It is currently owned by Northrop Grumman.
The basic purpose of the test was that high altitude environment was required for refueling of high altitude long endurance as it is the unmanned aircraft system of USA. Along with that they also examined the performance and flight control responsiveness of the Aircraft. As a result of the test is that the Global Hawks are able to do the autonomous aerial refueling. This test has brought forth the spring of 2012 in the world.
While speaking at at Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems sector, Geoffery Sommer said,”Demonstrating close formation flight of two high altitude aircraft, whether manned or unmanned, is a notable accomplishment,” further he said, “When you add autonomous flight of both aircraft into the mix, as we will do later in the KQ-X program, you gain a capability that has mission applications far beyond just aerial refueling.” (NB:KQ-X is a $33 million DARPA program awarded to Northrop Grumman Corporation on July 1, 2010. KQ-X will investigate and develop Autonomous Aerial Refueling techniques using two NASA Global Hawk high altitude long endurance [HALE] unmanned aerial vehicles [UAV]). The $33 million DARPA KQ-X program will demonstrate autonomous fuel transfer between two Global Hawks, enabling flights of up to one week endurance.

Actually KQ-X is a follow-on to a 2006 DARPA Autonomous Aerial Refueling Demonstration (AARD).It is an effort made along with NASA Dryden, which used an F-18 fighter jet as a surrogate unmanned aircraft to autonomously refuel through a probe and drogue from 707 tanker. Frame Representation Language(FRL), realized that their looped-hose system left a lot to be desired and began work on an improved system that is now commonly called the probe-and-drogue air-to-air refueling system and today is one of the two systems chosen by air forces for air-to-air refueling, the other being the flying-boom system.Modern specialized tanker aircraft have equipment specially designed for the task of offloading fuel to the receiver aircraft, based on drogue and probe, even at the higher speeds modern jet aircraft typically need to remain airborne. And finally Northrop Grumman supports the operation of the two Global Hawks used in the KQ-X program under the terms of a Space Act Agreement with its NASA Dryden partner and is responsible for all engineering design, as well as modification of both aircraft.

The US Defence Security Cooperation Agency has issued details about

Singapore’s long-awaited upgrade programme for 60 Lockheed Martin F-16 C/D Block 52 fighters.
The proposed package is worth $2.4 billion and includes 70 active electronically scanned array (AESA) radars, an avionics upgrade, and a small number of guided weapons for testing and integration purposes, says the DSCA.
If the deal goes forward, it will be conducted under the US government’s Foreign Military Sales (FMS) mechanism.
