ومن الدول الشريكة بريطانيا وهي الاحرص على توسيع قدرات التايفون المضادة للسفن وستحقق هذه الغاية عندما تقوم بدمج صواريخ Brimstone ثنائي نمط التوجيه بحلول عام 2018. وخلال معرض برلين الجوي في مايو الماضي عرضت شركة يوروفايتر لقطات فيديو تظهر فيها التايفون وهي تطلق حتى 6 صواريخ بريمستون في وقت واحد تحاكي (هجوم سريع على سفن شاطئية FIAC)

ومن بين الدول العملاء الثلاث (النمسا ، السعودية ، وعمان) السعودية وعمان هما الدولتان التين تدفعان لتوسيع قدرات التايفون باضافة قدرات الهجوم البحري (يذكر ان السعودية طلبت شراء 400 صاروخ هابون بلوك II)

وبينما يجري اعمال التطوير لدمج تلك الصواريخ الثلاث ، الدمج الكامل لها يعتمد في المقام الاول على التزام العملاء ، والى جانب هؤلاء العملاء الذين اشتروا التايفون ، يوجد عملاء محتملين للتايفون يبحثون عن قدرات الهجوم البحري

الجهود المبذولة لاضافة قدرات الهجوم البحري للتايفون يأتي كجزء من حزمة تطوير اوسع والتي وصفتها اليوروفايتر خلال معرض برلين الجوي بانها تعتبر نقلة نوعية في قدرات الطائرة

Airbus DS looks to furnish Eurofighter Typhoon with maritime strike capability

Airbus Defence and Space (DS) is looking to integrate three different anti-shipping missile types onto the Eurofighter Typhoon in an effort to equip the combat aircraft with a maritime attack capability, a senior company official disclosed on 9 June.

Speaking during the annual Trade Media Briefing at the company's facility in Seville, Spain, Peter Maute, Head of Marketing, Military Aircraft, said that the work is being conducted as part of a wider effort to increase the aircraft's sensor and kinetic reach.

"The Typhoon Maritime Capabilities Roadmap will see the integration of anti-shipping missiles. We are currently looking at the [Boeing AGM-84] Harpoon, [MBDA Italy] Marte, and [MBDA] Brimstone. We expect the home nations [of Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK] to contract soon".

Of the partner nations, it is the UK that is keenest to expand the Typhoon's anti-shipping capabilities, and to this end is already looking at integrating the MBDA Dual-Mode Brimstone onto the aircraft by 2018. At the ILA Berlin Airshow in May, Eurofighter showed video footage of Typhoons simultaneously launching up to six Brimstone missiles against fast in-shore attack craft (FIAC) during trials.

Among the three export nations of Austria, Oman, and Saudi Arabia, it is the two Middle Eastern nations that are driving the expansion of the Typhoon's maritime capabilities (in 2010 Saudi Arabia requested the sale of 400 Harpoon Block II missiles).

Maute said that, while development work to integrate these missiles is ongoing, full integration onto the Typhoon would first be dependent on a customer commitment. Besides those countries already signed up for the Typhoon, a number of potential export customers are also looking for a maritime attack capability in their new fighter platforms.

The effort to integrate a maritime strike capability onto the Typhoon is part of a wider upgrade package, which Eurofighter officials at ILA described as representing "a paradigm shift" in the platform's capabilities.

Along with the MBDA Meteor beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile (BVRAAM) and Storm Shadow/Taurus cruise missile, integration of the Harpoon, Marte, and Brimstone is envisaged as keeping the fighter at the forefront of military capability for the coming decades. The Brimstone in particular was described by officials at the event as being "a game changer" in terms of the Typhoon's capabilities.

The Typhoon joined the newly constituted Military Aircraft division of Airbus DS during the major restructuring work that was carried out at the beginning of the year. The expanded Airbus DS portfolio now comprises the A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT), A400M, C212, C295, CN235, Typhoon, and unmanned aerial vehicles.

منحت وزارة الدفاع البريطانية عقداً لشركة BAE Systems عقداً بقيمة 5 ملايين جنيه استرليني (8.5 مليون دولار) لاعداد دراسة اولية لدمج صواريخ جو-سطح بريمستون (Brimstone 2) صنع شركة MBDA على التايفون

ستجرى الدراسة في منشآت الشركة في وارتن وقد بدأت بالفعل الاختبارات مستخدمة النفق الهوائي الخاص بها ، وهذه الدراسة لا تقتصر على دمج صواريخ البريمستون والذي سينتهي في 2018 ، بل ايضاً ستساعد في دمج انظمة صاروخية متعددة القواذف مثل SPEAR 3 والتي ايضاً تصنعها شركة MBDA

UK awards Typhoon-Brimstone study contract



The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has awarded BAE Systems a GBP5 million (USD8.5 million) study contract to evaluate integrating the MBDA Brimstone missile system onto the Eurofighter Typhoon combat aircraft.

The contract, which was announced on 19 June, is geared not just at equipping the Typhoon with the Brimstone air-to-surface missile by 2018, but with exploring a common launcher approach which could also be used for other multiple weapons stores such as SPEAR 3.

Wind tunnel tests of the Typhoon-Brimstone combination are already taking place at BAE Systems' facility in Warton, the company said.

This initial study contract is part of a wider weapons upgrade package that is focused on delivering a full air-to-ground capability for the Typhoon in time for the retirement of the Panavia Tornado GR.4 from UK Royal Air Force (RAF) service in 2019.

Along with Brimstone, the Eurofighter consortium is currently working towards integrating the MBDA Storm Shadow and Taurus cruise missiles to give the Typhoon a stand-off strike capability. Also, Airbus Defence and Space officials recently disclosed that anti-shipping missiles, such as the Boeing AGM-84 Harpoon, and MBDA Italy Marte are also being considered to give the Typhoon a maritime strike capability.

Of all the weapons systems being integrated (work is also ongoing to fit the MBDA Meteor beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile), it is the Brimstone that Eurofighter officials have described as being 'a game changer'. Already fielded on the Tornado in Afghanistan and Libya, the Brimstone is a low-yeild munition designed to reduce the risks of collateral damage.

"RAF crews now choose to use the Brimstone in preference to the gun, as it is a one-shot pass with a guaranteed kill. During Operation 'Ellamy' in Libya in 2011, UK government ministers would be reassured when told the Brimstone would be the weapon used to strike a particular target," Russ Martin, MBDA weapons integration capability military adviser, noted at the recent ILA Berlin Airshow in May.

As well as being used to strike land targets, the Brimstone also has a utility against fast inshore attack craft (FIAC). During the ILA event, Eurofighter officials showed video footage of Typhoons simultaneously launching up to six Brimstone missiles against FIACs during trials.

When fully integrated, the Typhoon will be able to carry 12 Brimstones on four launcher packs of three missiles each.

BAE Systems awarded Brimstone 2 onto Typhoon study contract

BAE Systems has been awarded an initial study contract, valued at £5 million by the UK Ministry of Defence to evaluate the integration of the MBDA Brimstone 2 air-to-ground precision weapon with the Typhoon aircraft.



Work is currently underway at BAE Systems' Warton site in Lancashire to assess the aerodynamic properties of carrying the weapon through a series of wind tunnel tests. Alongside delivering an effective route to Brimstone 2 integration for the UK Royal Air Force (RAF) by 2018, the study is also set to deliver wider benefits through the exploration of a common launcher approach which could also be used for other multiple weapons stores such as SPEAR 3.

The Brimstone 2 weapon will add to the swing-role capability of the Typhoon aircraft. Brimstone 2 is effective against the most challenging, high speed and manoeuvring targets over land and sea. As a low collateral, close air support weapon it is already combat proven in Afghanistan and Libya by the RAF.

The study contract will transition the Dual Mode Brimstone capability that is combat proven on Tornado GR4 to Typhoon utilising the Brimstone 2 missile.

Mark Bowman, BAE Systems' Chief Test Pilot said: “With a proven track record on RAF Tornados, the Brimstone 2 weapon offers uncompromising precision and a flexible capability that meets the emerging threats of modern warfare. The Typhoon pilot will be able to confidently engage a wide range of target types including fast moving vehicles. When integrated Brimstone 2 will be another significant development step for Typhoon, enhancing the aircraft’s credentials and relevancy going forward.”

اليوروفايتر تستعد لاطلاق نموذج ترانش 3A من اجل تطويرات الرادار AESA

تم في 26 يونيو الماضي سحب طائرة الاختبار الثامنة IPA8 الالمانية (ثنائية المقاعد) خارج خط الانتاج النهائي لشركة Airbus في المانيا والتي ستسلم في نهاية المطاف الى سلاح الجو الالماني.

وهذه طائرة الاختبار الثامنة (IPA8) قد تم بنائها مثل اي طائرة ترانش 3A اذ زودت بالطاقة الكهربائية ونظام التبريد السائل الخاصين بالرادار AESA ، وهذا الرادار يحتاج الى المزيد من الطاقة وايضاً ينتج حرارة اعلى من الرادار الميكانيكي Captor-M.

وعلى النقيض من ذلك ، طائرة الاختبار الخامسة IPA5 البريطانية (احادية المقاعد) وهي بالاصل نموذج لطائرة ترانش 1 ، والتي تحتاج الى المزيد من العمل من اجل استيعباها للرادار الجديد ، وقد تم تعديلها في وقت سابق في منشآت شركة BAE في وارتن. ومن المتوقع ان تحلق هذه الطائرة وهي تحمل الرادار AESA خلال الربع الثالث من هذا العام ، وايضاً ستكون متواجدة في ساحة العرض خلال معرض فانبرا الجوي هذا العام.

ووفقاً الى مدير التطويرات المستقبلية في شركة يوروفايتر فان كلا البرنامجين (IPA5 و IPA8) مكملين لبعضهما. فمع طائرة IPA8 ، تستطيع بها اليوروفايتر اثبات قدرتها على تعديل اي من نماذجها الحديثة والتي تم تصميمها لاستيعاب المزيد من القدرات الرادارية. أما طائرة IPA5 فانها تحقق من صحة خطط الشركة من تعديل الطائرات القديمة التي سلمت باكراً.

مشروع طائرة IPA5 تفتح الابواب امام اسلحة جو الدول الاوروبية الشريكة الى تطوير اساطيلها من طائرات التايفون القديمة الى احدث وآخر المعايير او بيع بعض من طائراتها القديمة.


Eurofighter prepares Tranche 3A model for AESA upgrade

Eurofighter’s push to bolster its export sales prospects with an upgrade featuring an active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar has taken a step forward, after diversion from final assembly of a Tranche 3A aircraft, which will be fitted with the new system.

Instrumented production aircraft IPA8 was pulled off the final assembly line at Airbus's Manching site near Munich, Germany on 26 June. The two-seater, which will ultimately be delivered to the German air force, is like other Tranche 3As – in that it has been built with AESA-capable electrical power and liquid cooling systems. The electronically-scanned system requires more power – and generates more heat – than its mechanically-scanned predecessor, the Euroradar Captor-M.

By contrast, single-seat validation aircraft IPA5 is a UK Royal Air Force Tranche 1 version which needs more extensive upgrade work to accommodate the new radar. IPA5 is being modified at BAE Systems's site at Warton in Lancashire. The aircraft, expected to fly with its AESA radar in the third quarter of this year, will
be on display at the Farnborough air show.

According to Eurofighter’s head of future capabilities Laurie Hilditch, the two projects complement each other. With IPA8, Eurofighter will demonstrate its ability to modify any of its newest models, which were designed to accommodate the more capable radar. IPA5 will validate the company’s scheme for modification of its earliest models.

Mechanically-scanned systems are well known and generally reliable, but AESA systems are increasingly a customer expectation. By ditching a swinging sensor head for an array of fixed-position transmit/receive modules, AESA offers greater redundancy, continuous rather than sweeping coverage and can give improved detection rates.

The IPA5 project opens the door for Eurofighter partner nation air forces to upgrade their fleets to the latest standard, or sell off some of their older aircraft.

أول طائرة تايفون ترانش 3A ايطالية تكمل بنجاح اول رحلة طيران لها ,, ويلاحظ عدم وجود نقطتي اتصال الخزانات المتماثلة مع البدن في الجزء الخلفي للطائرة مما يعني ان ايطاليا لن تستخدم خزانات الوقود المتماثلة CFT

First Italian Built Eurofighter Tranche-3 Takes To The Skies

The first Eurofighter Typhoon Tranche 3 made by Partner Company Alenia Aerrmacchi has successfully completed its first flight. The aircraft performed "very well," according to Alenia Aermacchi test pilot Mario Mutti. The multi-role jet flew for about an hour.

Eurofighter Tranche 3 aircraft, with their 100s of modifications, changes and additions, represent a major achievement in the evolution of the world’s leading combat aircraft.

The Tranche 3 standard embodies a number of changes that effectively enhance the aircraft’s performance and which allow for future upgrades making it more attractive to current and potential export customers.
