Move towards seamless and secure visitor access in line with transformation to Dubai Smart City

Dubai, UAE, 1st November 2015: Dubai Trade, the premier cross-border trade enabler, has signed an agreement with Ports, Customs & Free Zone Corporation’s “PCFC Security” to automate all gate passes at ports in Dubai and at Jebel Ali Fee Zone (Jafza).

The move is part of a seamless, paper-free and secure gate pass management initiative in line with the Government’s strategy for Dubai to become a Smart City.

The agreement was signed by Eng. Mahmood Al Bastaki, CEO of Dubai Trade and Mr. Mahmood Amin, CEO of PCFC Security in the presence of senior officials on the sidelines of Gitex Technology Week 2015.

Under the agreement, Dubai Trade and PCFC Security will collaborate to automate all processes and create a gate pass management process for visitors to Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) and the Ports of Jebel Ali, Hamriya, and Rashid.

Eng. Mahmood Al Bastaki, CEO of Dubai Trade, said: “We are delighted to apply our 12 years of domain knowledge in automation and e-Services to partner with PCFC Security for the benefit of all port and free zone visitors. Our ports and free zones are the lifeblood of trade in Dubai and it is only natural that after automating the entry and exit of goods and services in Dubai we should now focus on supporting the visitors in the same way.

“Although visitors to Jafza and Dubai ports did have some automated processes in the past, they  wanted a complete end to end seamless experience that would offer convenience. At the same time, our partners at PCFC Security needed to ensure security and integration of their services. With this initiative, visitors will also receive support from our Contact Centre which operates around the clock. The new system will offer multi-channel accessibility through the internet mobiles and integrate with the back-office systems of DP World, Jafza and other entities.”

Mr. Mahmood Amin, CEO of PCFC Security, said:  “We thank our partners in Dubai Trade for extending their expertise and support towards this project. We partnered with them after conducting an in-depth study and realised that they have the best potential even when compared to other global providers in providing process transformation and improvements to create seamless gate pass management.”

Gitex 2015 is one of the most widely recognised ICT trade shows and Dubai Trade took the opportunity to exhibit  on the Dubai Smart Government stand as well as alongside PCFC pavilion entities including Dubai Customs, the Department of Planning and Development – Trakhees, DP World, and the Dubai Maritime City Authority. The partners showcased their latest  initiatives to facilitate trade
