Gaithersburg, Md., October 29, 2015 - The CMMI® Institute has recognized Lockheed Martin's (NYSE: LMT) Information Systems & Global Solutions (IS&GS), with its highest maturity rating. 

The Maturity Level 5 rating was achieved after a rigorous, third-party Capability Maturity Model® Integration (CMMI®) for Development, Version 1.3 appraisal focused on the company's critical large development and operations programs and businesses processes.

CMMI® is a process improvement framework that guides organizations to high performance operations, frequently used by technology and software development companies. CMMI® Level 5 is the highest designated maturity level, indicating that an organization not only has defined and controlled processes for technology development, but are also optimized for continuous improvement.

The IS&GS appraisal was performed by The Process Company and completed in October.                                                                              

The U.S. federal government often uses CMMI® level and similar accreditations in evaluation of contract proposals.
