Panasonic, a leading provider of integrated security and video surveillance solutions, introduces its next generation i-PRO® Extreme technology platform at Intersec 2017, happening at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC) on January 22 -24.

Panasonic Marketing Middle East and Africa (PMMAF) has launched the i-PRO Extreme in response to the fast growing demand for integrated video surveillance in the region, which has seen a tremendous growth for video security equipment in recent years. Industry studies indicate that the regional commercial sercurity market is expected to be worth US$10.2 billion by 2020, growing annually by 24 per cent from its US$3.8 billion value in 2015.

The i-PRO Extreme platform is available on Panasonic’s new line-up of cameras, recorders and video management software (VMS) —providing a native end-to-end H.265 compression while also delivering demonstrable enhancements in image quality, system reliability, IP security and embedded intelligence.

“Panasonic’s wide network camera line up and surveillance video management softwares are among the best in the world, and offer outstanding visibility and reliability features. With i-PRO Extreme, we aim to exceed customer expectations by providing a cutting edge technology that maximises the effectiveness and efficiency of their video surveillance while offering value on investment. The latest system is perfect for use in harsh climate and is immune to any cyber threats with its Secure Communication Technology,” commented Mr. Yasuo Yamasaki – Director, System Solutions and Communications Division, PMMAF.

Key technology enhancements delivered by i-PRO Extreme include:

Extreme Visibility

Intelligent Auto Mode: Advanced image stabilisation steadies the camera to prevent blurred images and intelligent sensitivity enables the camera to automatically adjust gain and shutter speed to adapt to the brightness and object movement in a scene.

144dB Enhanced Super Dynamic and Face Super Dynamic: High-performance face detection technology in the camera combined with new 144dB enhanced SD capabilities, automatically enables clear identification of a person’s face, even in very dynamic scenes or heavily backlit conditions for optimal face recognition and evidence capture.

Color Night View: Firefly night view enhancer technology transforms a standard 1/3-inch sensor camera into an effective low-light capable camera enabling it to produce a very high-quality colour image—even in the most challenging lighting conditions.

Extreme Compression

H.265 Compression with Smart Coding: Now included on the new cameras, recorders, video management software, the latest H.265 standard provides an 80 percent enhancement in compression when compared to H.264 devices, delivering high picture quality with half the bandwidth requirements and reduced storage costs.

H.264 Backward Compatibility: New H.265 enabled cameras include H.264 compatibility modes enabling customers to migrate portions of their system to the new standard at their own pace. This allows users to maximise existing investments in H.264 products while reducing overall TCO and helping to future-proof their networks.

Intelligent Face Compression: New cameras capable of detecting up to 8 faces simultaneously can now be linked with new compression techniques to maintain the Region Of Interest (ROI) at a higher picture quality. A built-in self-learning algorithm enables the camera to predict where movements may happen and ensure the camera is responsive and effectively manages picture quality in real-time.

Extreme Reliability

HDD Dynamic Power Control: HDD power control technology built into the new recorders intelligently and dynamically powers down HDD’s without risking recording loss, while extending HDD life up to seven years (depending on environment and usage). Recorders can be connected in tandem to enable seamless recording redundancy for mission critical applications.

Extreme Data Security

Secure Communications: Because every device with an IP address is potentially vulnerable to cyber threats, Panasonic has expanded its deployment of Secure Communication Technology across its new line of i-PRO Extreme H.265 cameras, recorders and video management software. Panasonic’s Secure Communications Protection Suite, developed in collaboration with Symantec, the global leader in cyber security, combines Symantec’s scalable and reliable Device Certificate technology to perform trusted device authentication, and together with Panasonic’s own in-house embedded cryptography technology, provides a highly secure and robust protection layer for its embedded surveillance products.

The Secure Communication Suite specifically protects against spoofing (false data), video tampering or altering (changing images), and snooping of protected surveillance communications (stealing passwords).

These protection technologies include video data encryption, IP communication encryption and Symantec’s Key based verification certificates, now currently available in most Panasonic H.264 based cameras, will be extended to the complete line of iPRO Extreme H.265 based hardware and software products providing the most extreme end-to-end IP security available in an IP video surveillance platform.

Besides i-PRO Extreme Panasonic is showcasing a wide range of security and surveillance solutions at booth A24 located in Sheikh Saeed Hall no 1 at Intersec 2017

Few models of the camera line-up with i-PRO Extreme platform are already available in the region since December 2016 and more will be introduced soon.

Dubai, UAE: Updates on the UAE’s fire safety codes have been completed, with the proposed changes, developments, and new chapters to be announced at Intersec 2017 next week, an official from the Dubai Civil Defence said today (17 January).

Updates on UAE Fire Safety and Life Protection codes completed and to be announced at Intersec 2017 – Dubai Civil Defence

Lt. Col. Ali Al Mutawa

Lieutenant Colonel Ali Al Mutawa, Assistant General Manager for Smart Services at Dubai Civil Defence, said the updated UAE guide for Fire Safety and Life Protection was completed in cooperation with public and private sector partners, and will ensure the provision of the optimum level of fire safety and protection for UAE residents.

Al Mutawa said the Dubai Civil Defence added new chapters and revised existing chapters of the guide in order to cope with the rapid development in various economic sectors in the country.

“Due to increased construction and infrastructure activity in the UAE, we want to keep up to international safety standards, and we constantly strive to evolve and be better than yesterday,” said Al Mutawa.

“Chapters that have been updated include those relating to fire doors; cladding in buildings; access for Civil Defence trucks to reduce incident response times; and educating consultants, contractors and end-users on the latest modifications.”

Al Mutawa was speaking at press conference for Intersec 2017, the world’s largest trade show for security, safety, and fire protection, which runs from 22-24 January at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The changes and developments in the UAE guide for Fire Safety and Life Protection will be announced on the first day of the Intersec Fire Safety Conference on 22nd January, where H.E. Major General Expert Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi, the Director General of the Dubai Civil Defence, will deliver the inaugural keynote address.

Commenting on the latest revisions, Al Matrooshi said: “The new edition of the Guide explores the challenges of development in the future, and lays the scientific foundations to ensure the life protection and property safety in buildings and construction to be built in the coming years.”

“At the end of each chapter, it includes special methodologies and applications in terms of inspection and maintenance, and the requirements of examining and selecting equipment and materials used in buildings and construction.”

The Intersec 2017 press conference was also addressed by Ahmed Pauwels, the CEO of Intersec’s organiser Messe Frankfurt Middle East, who said: “Spanning 56,300sqm, and featuring 1,304 exhibitors, Intersec 2017 will be five per cent larger year-on-year when it opens next week.”

“Not only is Intersec the world’s largest security, safety, and fire protection trade show in terms of exhibitor numbers, but with 58 exhibiting countries, it’s also the most internationally representative.

“That international diversity will be reflected in the solutions on show, and at least 140 exhibitors have officially confirmed they’ll launch new products.

“Whether it’s drone detection and disabling technology, the world’s 1st fully 3D printed metal key, a mobile retail solution using augmented reality, or an IP video door station for smart homes, Intersec will be full of exciting new innovations seen for the first time in the region.”

Another highlight at Intersec 2017 is the official public launch of Dubai’s Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA), a new body formed late last year by the Dubai Government to license, monitor, and oversee research & development in the Emirate’s commercial security industry.

The SIRA Forum takes place on 24th January, where Khalifa Ibrahim Al Saleis, SIRA’s Executive Director, will outline SIRA’s new role, and provide an overview of the issuance of the new ‘Regulation of Security Industry Law’ in Dubai.

“Public safety and security remains vitally important in a world full of serious security challenges, and Dubai’s continuing growth as an economic hub, vibrant city and tourist destination, depends on its hard earned reputation as a safe place to live, work and visit,” said Al Saleis.

“The security industry has to rise to the challenge of maintaining this safety in an ever growing diverse world city. Events like Expo 2020 only serve to highlight this need. SIRA will ensure that world class security solutions are recommended and implemented to maintain this reputation. It’s also empowered, as an agency, to reach commercial arrangements in areas which will enhance this aim of world class solutions for Dubai.”

With 17 of the world’s top 20 security providers on board, Intersec 2017 will spread over seven sections of Commercial Security, Fire & Rescue, Safety & Health, Homeland Security & Policing, Information Security, Smart Home & Building Automation, and Physical & Perimeter Security.

The 19th edition of the three-day event is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and officially supported by Dubai Police, the Dubai Civil Defence, and Dubai Police Academy. The annual showcase continues its upward trend in-line with a Middle East security and fire safety market that is set to post double digit growth.

According to research from analysts Frost & Sullivan, the Middle East commercial security market, comprising video surveillance, access control and intrusion detection, will grow annually by 18 per cent over the next five years, reaching US$4.8 billion by 2021 compared to US$2.2 billion in 2016.

Prospects in the regional fire safety market are equally impressive, as unified standards and smart product integration steer the Middle East market toward 13 per cent annual growth between 2017 and 2021, when spending will reach US$4.4 billion, from US$2.5 billion in 2016.

Meanwhile the Middle East homeland security market, comprising monitoring and surveillance systems, restricted entry systems, and perimeter security solutions was worth US$8.24 billion in 2016, and is estimated to grow 15 per cent annually to reach US$17 billion by 2021.

Intersec’s conference programme includes the Infrastructure & Cyber Security Conference on 23-24 January, while other returning features include an Outdoor Demo Area where drones, armoured vehicles, and the latest in firefighting equipment will be on display; a Jobs & Careers Pavilion; and a Smart Home & Building Automation Pavilion.
